How does Gonzalo affect Tio Juan? How does Tio Juan affect Gonzalo? Do you see any changes in both characters as a result of their relationship? If so, how?
I think Gonzalo is a good character with tio juan.I like this part of the book because i was like tio juan my first days at school.this part make me remenber.
That's an interesting comment, Aichatou. How did you feel your first days of school in the United States and who helped you? Did you have someone like Gonzalo to "hold your hand" and guide you? Did this person affect (influence or change) you? Or did you affect this person?
i have something like Gonzalo because my first days at school i was with a girls who was explaining to me everything the teacher was saying in the classroom.And when the teacher ask me i was like a baby who can not talk i can't unterdand what the teacher was saying.
i was like tio Juan because my first days at school i can not speak English so when i need to speak somebody will translate for me. Mariama diallo was like gonzalo for me but she is not at this school anymore.
I disagree with fatou barry and aicha because if you don't speak English you don't need need someone to translate for you. however you may want someone to translate for you there is a different between need and want example when I came to the school I wasn't speak English and no one translate for me I was the one who try to understood by looking at body language or using it
fatou barry let me tell you something that you really need to understand but you have to think big. fatou barry imagine you come to the school no one speak you language what would you do ? and do you know the different between need and want? and are so lucky that you have a person that speak your language in school. in my middle school there were only American people no black people or spansh people I was the only black I didn't speak any any anything feel sad they were trying to speak to me but I didn't understood nothing in that point you could say I need translation how ever schools like ICHS we are community people come from everywhere if you don't speak English the person next to you may not speak English too in that point you don't need to kill your self to Loren English you going to take your time and Loren it.
